Many Uses Of A Video Borescope

A video borescope is one of the many types of fiber optic scopes. What makes it different from the rest is the video screen or a small portable monitor. But before we go into details, perhaps you would like to learn what fiber scopes are. Back before these scopes were invented, people found the need for these. People wanting to view, check out, investigate, or inspect tiny spaces or holes needed a tool to help them with this endeavor. For example, how can you inspect a machine with only a quarter inch hole? How can you check a human body’s internal organs without cutting him or her? How can you get rid of having to tear up a wall just to see if there is mold? These are some of the issues that people had to deal with before the boroscope was born. Thankfully, technology brought these fiber optic wires that allow one to view through an eyepiece on one end, with another end having the objective lens that creates the image. The fiber optic wires illuminate the image to the viewer. So after the flexible borescope was invented, several types of scopes followed and one of which is the video borescope.

So when borescopes were created, people invented a lot of variations to it. It was during the 1960s that a doctor has developed a device that can be used for the human body, allowing doctors to be able to see the internal organs of a person. This is such a breakthrough for the whole world because then doctors are now able to examine what’s happening inside you’re a human’s system without having to rip open the human body. That type of borescope was called an endoscope.

On the other hand, there were generally two types of borescopes that came out originally. There’s the rigid kind which is also known as bore scope. These were used more on automotive inspections. It was used by technicians while working on hydraulic manifolds, injectors, and even cylinders. It was also used on gunsmithing. These types of scopes offer a higher quality image than compared to the next.

The next type is the flexible types that are also called fiberscopes. They are very flexible and allow you through different angles and curves. It allows you to rotate here and there, pass along corners, and even view on angled tubes. This type however offers an image quality that is not as high as that of the rigid ones.

With the introduction of flexible types of scopes, the video borescope was born. This is among the more advanced kinds of borescopes such that a CCD chip is embedded on to the scope at its tip. This is great for visual inspections. It is also being used in hospitals today for endoscopy. Ever heard or seen a monitor showing the internal organs of a human body through some kind of wire slipped through the tongue area? That’s one example.

A video borescope can be expensive because of the technology being used. But just think of the benefits of having one in our world. While you are being examined, you also get a live view of your internal organs. There are models having a wireless attachment so you can view the image on a separate and bigger screen. On the other hand, inspection companies also benefit a lot from these devices, making life easier for everyone with video inspection among others.
